My family was lucky enough to have a great friend to visit and crash with in Østerbro. We spent ten days touring around Copenhagen and can condense our highlights into a tidy little week of fun with toddlers and preschoolers.

The art museum is set up in a labyrinthine loop making the children’s wing difficult to find when you arrive. but oh my! once you find it, you will be blown away. and don’t stop at the first level, there are three levels of diy art projects with each floor focusing on a medium and artist. We got entangled on the Calder mobile level for a half hour using scissors, glue sticks, and bendy wire to create our very own mobiles and attach them to the display wall. In fact, our family of four was so immersed in this project that we forgot our plan of “divide and conquer” to see the rest of the museum in solo shifts.

Luckily, in a moment of selflessness, Holden declared that “we must do what you want considering that we spent so much time doing what I want.” After a delicious and pricey meal in the cafe, we strolled around the remaining exhibits. Cold. We planned our visit to coincide with our friends’ availability. Brrr. If we come back — and I hope we do — I want to visit in the summer. There’s even a lot more we could see and do when the weather is above freezing. then again, I think my kids would miss the snow.

https://apis.google.com/js/plusone.jsMany thoughts and emotions are going through my head as I think about the hanus act that happened this morning in Newtown, Connecticut.  I am having a challenging time putting into words how I feel about this tragedy.  just like the parents of the innocent little lives lost I said goodbye to three of my kids this morning as they headed on the bus to school.  Each and every morning I count on that they will get to school safely and return home to me in the afternoon.  I can not imagine my life without my beautiful babies.

I’ll never understand why someone would even think about committing this awful act.  What was going through that shooters head this morning? We might never learn that answer.  My heart is grieving for the families and friends of all the victims involved.  With Christmas just around the corner it makes this disaster even much more sickening. 

In a couple of hours my three school-aged children will return from school.  I am going to hug them just a little much more tighter.  When they head back on the bus on Monday, my views about their safety will not be the same as they were this morning.  I can not even view the news on this any much more without getting sick to my stomach.  My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in Newtown, Connecticut.
