WHIT’S PICKS: photography book FOR mothers

First, a disclosure: I understand the author of this book as well as she is a beautiful person. Second, I won mine at the EVO seminar I went to in May. There was an Oprah moment where the presenters revealed that everybody ought to reach under their chairs as well as that ten people would have won a copy of raise the Everyday: A photographic guide to Picturing Motherhood

. It was a bit bit thrilling to discover that “WINNER!” card with my fingers as well as feel lucky.

Heather as well as I satisfied Tracey at our very first blogging conference. We were wowed by her since as a expert photographer, she had already published two books, as well as was much even more along in her motherhood journey than we were. She still is. as well as keeping that point of view in mind, she has written a guide for mothers to assist them file their lives with images. She offers prompts as well as examples of charm in the little moments in addition to suggestions for landing on structures that work.

If you want to enhance your photography, this book may help, without getting as well technical.

Here are a few nuggets I gleaned from raise the Everyday:

1) try shooting from a bird’s eye view. I did this a fair amount with my infants by standing above them on the bed.

2) The pictures you take of yourself holding your infant in your arms in the mirror will be favorites in future years when they are as well huge to in shape in your arms. I can attest to this. It’s happening.

3) The “trimmings” as Tracey phone calls them are the details that mark the moment in time. That thing your kid insists on bring around or using around his neck can be the subject of a photo. Her feet dangling from a chair will remind you later that her legs did not yet reach the ground. The young child toothbrush lying on the counter of the sink, the mess left after a long LEGO session. I like this photo of Julian from a getaway we took when he was two-and-a-half. He was truly into water play, so when we needed some downtime, we provided him a few containers from the kitchen area of the condo we had rented, as well as set the hose on a trickle. He kept hectic this method every afternoon.

Congrats to Tracey on this beautiful book. (Amazon link)
