At the begin of the summer, a crazy – yet amazing – thing occurred to me.
As routine visitors may remember, I headed off on a fantastic household holiday to Ochos Rios in Jamaica on a household press trip to Beaches resort and it was there that my other half Peter took a quick pre-beach snap of me using my preferred red Boux Avenue bikini.
Having not used a bikini in public for a while, this was the first time, two youngsters later, that I felt really positive to don a two-piece so wished to mark the event with a snap.
Encouraged by my other half Peter, I uploaded the picture to social media.
This was in the wake of the controversy surrounding protein World’s ‘beach body ready’ adverts as well as I wished to show that all women ought to be happy of our bodies – no matter the size or shape or nevertheless numerous stretch marks we may have!
I’ve had 2 c-sections, bring big, tall infant young boys both times as well as it’s risk-free to state my body is certainly not what is was.
I’ve lost definition around my midsection as well as I have stretch marks, however you understand what, it doesn’t bother me at all. Honestly.
And nor does it bother my other half Peter either. He always makes me feel great about myself, even when I’ve been at my heaviest.
There are so numerous unrealistic body expectations put upon women.
I’ve just recently returned from London fashion Week, as well as there, I unfortunately witnessed with my own eyes, the ultra-thin designs on the catwalk. It’s a sorry sight.
But we’re likewise seeing development as well with ‘plus-sized models’ (I utilize this term reluctantly as I really don’t believe a size 16 ought to truly be labelled plus size) Ashley Graham having the bridge as well as triggering a social network storm – for all the best reasons. Yay!
But back to the bikini shot….
Having published the picture on my Twitter, Instagram as well as Facebook accounts, I didn’t believe any type of much more of it up until all of a sudden I took my phone out of my purse a few hours later as well as was satisfied with numerous notifications.
The picture rapidly reached 60k people in a few hours, as well as I was overwhelmed by the plethora of positive comments from women telling me it has influenced them to conquer their fears as well as wear a bikini in public for the very first time or take their kids swimming again.
I spent that night in tears (of joy) reading all the fantastic messages of support – the unforeseen reaction actually blew me away.
You can checked out all about it here.
The extremely next day, I felt influenced to begin the #proudinmybikini hashtag as a method for women to function our bodies collectively, a method for us to support as well as admire one another’s stamina as well as confidence.
Now we’re heading towards the end of the summertime (sob) I wished to produce this publish as well as celebrate all the women – as well as their hot bikini bods – who got included in the hashtag!
And when I state ‘hot bikini bods’ I imply ‘so hot it hurts, sizzling bods’
Just inspect out these attractive mama’s *wolf whistles*-

…In a world where negativity can sadly so commonly dominate on the internet rhetoric, it has been heart warming to see women coming together to support as well as admire one another.
It was excellent to checked out all the comments on everyone’s private pictures as well as posts, as well as it’s so uplifting understanding that together we are all playing our part in shifting the unrealistic expectations put on women’s beauty.
I hope we’re at a tipping point whereevery single woman, mom or not, bikini/swimwear or not, can begin feeling happy of their bodies.
